Slammiversary XI recap: TNA celebrates 11 years with truly superb event in Boston

Kurt Angle Slammiversary

Bully Ray makes history in hard-hitting main event against Sting, and TNA names second Hall of Fame inductee, and the Knockouts steal the show… When Total Notstop Action Wrestling first debuted in June 2002, very few wrestling fans would have predicted that it would still be going today. With the demise of once-popular promotions WCW and ECW still fresh in audience memories, this new company looked like little more than yet another independent promotion boasting a couple of big names on the marquee. Eleven years on, and TNA Impact Wrestling is now a truly global brand that continues to grow…

TNA Turning Point 2012: Scaling New Heights?

Source: facebook.com/impactwrestling

One month removed from its biggest show of the year, TNA staged its Turning Point pay-per-view this past Sunday night, headlined by a return clash pitting Austin Aries against Jeff Hardy – this time with the gold suspended high above the ring. Ben Veal gives his thoughts on the action. It was always going to be hard for TNA to follow a show like Bound For Glory. Last month in Philadelphia, the company put on one of its strongest showings in quite some time, in front of a rabid crowd that really lifted the action by providing that all-important atmosphere…

TNA Bound For Glory 2012: One Big Show. One Unpopular Finale.

Source: impactwrestling.com

This past Sunday, TNA presented its biggest show of the year, Bound For Glory, in front of a white-hot crowd in Phoenix, Arizona. With some highly-anticipated grudge matches on the card, and ‘The Greatest Man That Ever Lived’ defending the Heavyweight Championship in the main event, this show had the potential to be one to remember. But after all of the hype and build-up – did it deliver? TNA have done a great job of building up Bound For Glory over the past few years. Whilst still not considered on the same level as the WWE’s WrestleMania - or even SummerSlam events –…

Interview: Jeff Hardy on Bound For Glory, his unique style – and going high risk.

IMG_7934

This coming Sunday, the number one contender for TNA’s World Heavyweight Championship, Jeff Hardy, will face titleholder and ‘The Greatest Man That Ever Lived’, Austin Aries, in the main event of TNA’s biggest PPV of the year – Bound For Glory. I don’t think it’s any secret ‘The Charismatic Enigma’ has been, and will always be, my favourite high-flying superstar - so I really was chomping at the bit to speak to the man who has created such controversy with his issues outside the ring (as well as his very public in-ring ones), yet still has the fans cheering for him wherever he…

The Impact Report: Hardy’s Bound For Glory Quest Continues

Aries-Kaz-13Sept2012

The following article features match-by-match thoughts of last Thursday’s edition of Impact Wrestling, which aired in the UK on Challenge TV on Sunday 16th September. Hot off the heels of a twist-filled No Surrender pay-per view, this week’s edition of Impact Wrestling kicked off with the TNA World Heavyweight Champion Austin Aries. Aries quickly set aside his recent troubles with Aces & Eights and reinforced the importance of TNA’s premier title, stating that with it comes power. Aries then called out the new number one contender for the gold, the man who “overcame the odds” at No Surrender … Jeff Hardy. Hardy came out to…

Why prestige needs to return to WWE World Titles

wwe-title-belt

Last Monday night at RAW1000, we witnessed something that we haven’t seen in a very long time. No, I’m not talking about the DX Reunion. Or The Undertaker’s return. Or any of the other cameos from a host of WWE Legends – and Sean Mooney. No, what was most surprising about Monday’s show was seeing the WWE Championship defended in the main event, in a match pitting champion CM Punk against challenger John Cena that had received a week of hype – and was the focal point of the show. But why, you ask, was that so surprising? Surely the…
